Update. Phoned tech support who confirmed the jack is TRRS? compliant which means should be able to get input and output however the motherboard in my build doesnt support that functionality. Ordered a USB headset which will hopefully see me sorted. Thanks for the help - appreciated.
It’s a bit odd. It has a single Jack but also came with a connector to turn it into a dual connector . I’ve posted a photo below.

Cheers Mate and no, there is no rush. Just used the pre set config as somewhere start with. Will defo go with your suggestions as happy to max out the budget. I know the monitor size is a bit of a pain but if I got him anything bigger my Sister in Law would go mental!
