Hi mate,
You need to get permission from PCS to flash your BIOS - this is so your warranty is not invalidated if there are any issues.
Once you have authorisation - they will send the link to the latest BIOS for you to flash.
Cheers,
Josh
Absolutely - Nothing major about it, just rather unsightly haha! Still, the new BIOS is working amazingly and still able to control the brightness.
Perhaps when PCS are able to edit the image and get their logo we can get that flashed as well.
That's one of the best use cases for this.
There's a control center for Linux available mind, that seams to be made by another manufacturer: I will send this into a private message so as to not get deleted.
Hey man,
From reading a competitor's threads in Reddit - Clevo are releasing small amounts of tuning ability to the end user; however they're concerned that there will be a high RMA rate due to people not knowing what they're doing. When you consider this is their first AMD laptop with a CPU...
Hey all,
I can now confirm that with the new BIOS provided by PC Specialist (NH50Ax_07.efi which is 1.0.7) I can NOW change the screen brightness, fantastic! Also included in this new BIOS is the option to manually choose the AMD Voltage and CPU Frequency Limit (This just translates back to...
I've seen graphite thermal pads before, they've most definitely come a long way!
So with all TIM applications - I've ran some torture test and Cinebench runs to allow the TIM to spread (perhaps this isn't needed in today's age, but worth doing anyway!)
Before, without CCC intervening I was...
Cheers Spyder! I had a feeling it might've been.
I must say, I'm so glad I've just repasted - The original paste job was absolutely dreadful. It was spilling over the side of the Ryzen IHS onto the socket-latch. Replaced with Kryonaut by Thermal Grizzly and seen my idle temps for GPU drop from...
Does anyone know what thermal paste PCS use on the builds? It just states "standard thermal paste for efficient cooling," or something along those lines. I'm planning on removing the heatsinks and re-pasting with Thermal Grizzly just so I can rule out bad thermal paste application. I told you...
Hi Spyder & Mrlip,
Hope you're both well.
I think I've now sussed how Ryzen works with regards to undervolts / overclocks, voltages and "idle." Took a day of playing around, but got there eventually. Had to get the ease of undervolting that Intel provides out of my head and re-invent the wheel...
Hey mate,
I've since ripped CCC applications out entirely and left Keyboard and fan control in place. This has now stopped the interferences from CCC with Ryzen Master, and now not bothering with the "performance plans," just sticking with Ryzen Balanced.
Found a fantastic thread on Reddit from...
Most definitely running as Admin in both Power options and CMD - Running the command to show all power schemes the only one's showing are:
Balanced (This is when CCC is on everything but Power Saving)
AMD Balanced.
They're all appearing in the registry, so I can duplicate them into Windows...
Yea, I've still not done the scripts for the power-plans, mainly due to trying to give CCC a chance to work effectively, lol.
When finding the power-plans (Power saving, high performance,) these are actually hidden from CMD prompt (Powercfg,) and the GUI. They're available in the registry and...
How are you finding ObsidianPC software? I'm currently battling an issue with Control Center and power plan settings - for example, when putting to Performance in CCC, this doesn't always change windows to 'High Performance.' It works if using VR but not 2D games.
Cheers,
Josh
What type of headphones are you using? Sorry if this is derailing the thread - just intrigued as to others' configurations.
Currently i'm using Sennheiser HD595's with Dolby Atmos for headphones when gaming.
I find the SoundBlaster Cinema 6 software absolutely useless and destroys the EQ's for...
95 is pretty damn awesome to only then thermal throttle!
I now feel slightly bad for my missus - I usually play with headphones on the Sofa, and she watches TV. I'm going to ask her if it's now bothering her :D
Really appreciate all the info after your testing - I could do it myself, but...
Hey man,
I love the fact Ryzen Master doesn't set OC/UV on boost - however makes it a bit of a ballache to reboot after a gaming session to get back to clock speeds.
I've been doing some more reading on 3XXX series regarding undervolt and overclock - I can see the general consensus is to just...
Hey Ubuysa,
Yea, don't want people invalidating their warranty hence why I said reach out to PCS. They've authorised a BIOS update for myself, just currently waiting for the download!
Stay safe,
Josh
Awesome, cheers for the info!
I'll probably rip out CCC then and use alternative software to control the fan speeds like you mentioned previously - I find with CCC the temperatures are hitting 80-85c when using the VR which isn't so bad.
That's quite a steep voltage reduction from the stock...
