I managed to get it removed. Didn't realise there was a tiny screw holding it in place. I looked at the PSU cables and it's connected properly. No idea why I'm getting a VGA error. They are picking it up on Tuesday so I'll just have to wait and see.
Sorry I should've elaborated. The PCIE cables can't be extended any lower so although there are 2 more slots in the PC I wouldn't be able to connect it.
