Thanks for the tip, do you have any guidance on where exactly I can find this option?
Checking my device manager only give me read-only info, of course, and the windows' mouse configuration don't have anything as you mention.
Yeah, I knew that but re-reading my post, it's not something...
This review is not so much for the laptop itself but for the entire buying process. I found silly to review the components or the laptop in itself as there are plenty of information available online. You don't need another review from a random guy on a forum.
I placed my order on the 29th Nov...
Optimus technology may have been "dismissed" but the Nvidia Control Panel remained the same :P
The equivalent of that "discrete" GPU is this setting I guess :)
Sorry to bring this up again but I did further testing and the results are a little concerning to me:
The previous test were:
- Using a splitter (earphone/mic) connect a gaming headset
- Using a splitter (earphone/mic) connect a phone headset
In both cases I had my voice register really low...
It's fine. The main cons of having a huge single SSD/HDD is that if that get breaks up, you have everything gone. I myself bought mine with 2 x512GB SSD (budget constraint) instead of a single 1TB SSD because in case one of the two breaks down, I can use the other as fallback while I wait for a...
I personally simply removed the HDD from my old laptop and as soon as I find that I need it, I'll install it in the new one.
In the meanwhile, an HDD cover with USB adaptor costs merely £10 or so on amazon.
If you can, I suggest doing the same for yours. Important documents should be backed to...
Sorry for the late reply. Dunno why I didn't got email notification as usual.
It's a recoil yes. I didn't really thing about that meaning of "discrete" as the laptop with nvidia comes with the nvidia optimus technology that switch between the two cards depending on the software.
Any ideas...
They suggested as well reinstalling the driver after a cleanup.
Since then I've only had a laptop freeze with buzzing sound in RDR2 which seems to be a relatively common issue with the game (deleting a config.xml file should fix it and since I've done it, no more freeze happened).
Good morning folks,
I'm finally starting to settle with my new laptop and only some nitpicking remains from me. The "Gaming Centre" really does a basic job at letting me configure behaviour of the laptop, plus I've a couple of questions.
I'm not sure this is the right sub-forum but it didn't...
Bought another splitter and it is definitely better but still everyone says that my voice comes out really much lower than others. I guess that's also a matter of the splitter itself losing quality.
Just updating that so far so good since I performed a clean uninstall of the nvidia and intel drivers and installed from scratch.
I'll consider this issue resolved if I don't see other freezes for a week or so from now.
Tried a clean install of the video drivers (intel and nvidia) after cleaning up using "Display Driver Uninstaller".
I'll update if the issue persist...
Alright, update: No more freezes until just a moment ago. I was playing World of Warcraft. Quite the non-demanding game as I play it with medium-low setting to avoid the messy effects.
The real interesting (and concerning) thing I noticed is that once the laptop freeze, even "hardware" input...
This is the splitter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0177MQ7IW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The headset is this one: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8722483
I'm trying to find a moment to test the splitter on another laptop as I believe that's the best candidate for...
The only other recent topic I've found is this one: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/recoil-iii-microphone-not-working.65489/
Basically, the laptop integrated mic works perfectly, even too much as, with a mechanical keyboard, it becomes very annoying for whoever is listening.
I had...
Hey, downloaded Aida64 Extreme (trial) and let it run for 30 minutes (timer set on my phone) but on crash or freeze of any sort. Temperatures were stable as well, here is a screenshot as apparently the "save" button only does that... :-/
The spikes were probably when windows was trying to...
Just to update, I ran the fire strike benchmark (2-3 times, every time resetting the hwInfo limits registered) and these are the values shown by HWInfo after it finished the last run:
Also, no idea if this also can give some info, these are the result of the benchmark...
Latest update for windows from the update center and latest nvidia from the nvidia geforce experience.
Rest was utility as in 7zip, notepad++, etc. etc.
I didn't update drivers using the windows device management as they tend to install the microsoft version that sometimes are messed up.
The pc is completely frozen. No input control as I wrote, so the only option is to restart it.
I also tried World of Warcraft (classic and retail) but didn't encounter the problem, probably because they are less demanding in terms of resources.
About the possible causes you listed:
- There is...
