    PCSPECIALIST Building an AE guzzler!

I note that you have had machines in the past. I was surprised to discover, on here, that you can transfer your Windows 10 licence from an old machine, even if it is an OEM version. That, of course, assumes you no longer wich to use Windows on the old machine (I had been using Windows 10 on an...

    PCSPECIALIST Building an AE guzzler!

I believe the conventional wisdom on here is that the AMD CPUs are much better than the Intel ones (a link is often posted about this but I can't find it). But the latest generation of Intels (12th generation) may change all that and also soon another generation of AMD CPUs is to be released. I...

Have you seen this thread? Seems that it was a problem as long ago as 2016! The interesting point was that the problem does not seem to occur with Win 10 home edition...

PCSPECIALIST How to control case fan RGB and cooler/radiator/MB RGB from same place

Hi, I received the machine below from PC Specialist a few months ago and am loving it. I was never bothered about RGB lighting and the PC sits behind my monitor, sideways on so it is only a tiny issue. I can control the lighting on the MB the cooler and the radiator fans (in the roof) via iCue...

    PCSPECIALIST No power at all

Before getting my recent PC Specialist desktop I had for about 15 years had a series of laptops and an iMac. What all these things had in common was a single power on button. So I thought my shiny new desktop was dead when nothing happened when I switched it on via the PSU switch. I had...

    PCSPECIALIST Graphics Card Upgrade Advice

Some Googling suggests that in the Develop mode Lightroom re applies all the edits to display an image whereas in the Library mode it simply accesses the preview jpeg that is embedded in the RAW.

    PCSPECIALIST Graphics Card Upgrade Advice

To me this suggests that it is taking longer for the image to be rendered to display at the higher resolution. But if I have understood @SpyderTracks correctly he was saying that this will not be the case? But maybe I misunderstood.

    PCSPECIALIST Graphics Card Upgrade Advice

What is that's feeling slower? Moving from image to image or the time for edits to be processed?

    PCSPECIALIST Graphics Card Upgrade Advice

Wouldn't the monitor slow things down, when, for instance, Timcla is moving from one image to another and has only low res previews, ie if the images are needing to be displayed in a higher resolution than on the old monitor? I wonder if that's what he (assuming from the name that Tim is a "he")...

PCSPECIALIST Computer for running Photoshop & Lightroom & some video editing

Should the AMD vs Intel be updated now that PCSpecialist are offering some of the 12th gen Intel CPUs? It has suddenly got more complicated.

PCSPECIALIST Problem with PCI-e card USB-C 20Gb/s card, with certain specific files only.

Card arrived and installed and I have a few times copied the 1TB folder of 40,000 images and Lightroom data from the external HD through the expansion card's 20Gb/s USB socket with no problems. So fingers crossed. Although I had deleted the files that were causing problems.

PCSPECIALIST Problem with PCI-e card USB-C 20Gb/s card, with certain specific files only.

Just had an email from scan.co.uk. Testing of the card showed "Data transfer stability intermittent" and they are sending out a replacement.

PCSPECIALIST Problem with PCI-e card USB-C 20Gb/s card, with certain specific files only.

Oh dear. It cost less than £40 though, so compared to the price of the new PC it is nothing.

PCSPECIALIST Problem with PCI-e card USB-C 20Gb/s card, with certain specific files only.

I have raised an RMA with scan computers re the card. I bet they will be unable to reproduce the fault.
