OK been a while but now my period of grieving is over :-/ I did as advised and a) removed the graphics card and b) hooked up the display to the MOBO. Computer works fine. Now I need a replacement card. I'm thinking of a used 2080 Ti, as they seem to be only a little more expensive than used...

Could the bootup issues simply be because of the GPU failure?
