Thanks, and good luck with the Vyper. I can't remember which other models I shortlisted, but I don't think that was among them, for $reasons.
Yep, Rift S, and it worked fine. It pushes the GPU hard (fans flat out) though.
With the headset on, and some distance away to fling around controllers...
Yeah, I've read it's still in spec, even for the size.
I just need to make sure its in performance mode next time!
When it is, it happily handles 2 hour long VR sessions.
After giving it another few minutes, it has now started up again. Power mode was set to “entertainment”.
It seems that throttling isn’t working too well...
It’s certainly behaving itself now, and GPU temperature is hovering around 95 while playing Derail Valley.
Hi all.
I had just started a VR session (which I’ve done many times before), and about 5 minutes in, there was a click and the laptop died.
I’ve left it unplugged, and let it call down, but it’s now entirely unresponsive to power button or anything else.
Is there a way to get this going again or...
Hi all.
Does anyone know if the Clevo chassis (specifically the Defiance VII/PC50DD2) support charging via the thunderbolt connector?
I'm looking at sharing with my work dock which has a 19V PSU (but is still 5V on thunderbolt IIRC)
Thanks!
It's steady, and quiet enough enough to tune out. I'd forgotten about it unless I listen for it again.
Update, I'd forgotten I have it set 10% higher.
If I set it to 0% offset, the fan speed drops by 20% and I can't hear them at all.
FYI, Control Center is not installed by default (or wasn't for me), but is on the driver CD (or downloads for your order).
The stock keyboard is one colour LEDs, but there is a LED per key factory option (according to Clevo).
You also need to make sure "Fn hotkeys and OSD" runs on startup to get...
I run an Oculus Rift S on a Defiance VII with an RTX 2060 without issue, even handling fast movement and reactions in games like Beat Saber.
Obviously, it needs to be plugged in and on a flat surface so it can vent as it runs flat out.
Cooling is sufficient as I've used it for over an hour at times.
On my (15") the only point I notice a "sharp edge" is each side of the USB ports. The "gap" looks big, but I can't fit even a fingernail into it.
The vent alignment looks the same, but it looks to me like it's the thermal pipes underneath it.
I would also double check task manager, to ensure it's using the GPUs correctly (and not sticking to the onboard one).
I'm not sure how it determines which to use automatically.
No problem. I hope it helps.
Under normal use, they're noticeable, but not intrusive at all.
Obviously on a lap, some vents may be obstructed so it will increase slightly.
They are very reactive so if an application chews CPU for a few seconds, they will ramp up almost immediately, settling...
Ahah, found it on the CD in E:\Options\PreInstallKit\Creative_SBC\. This isn't listed in the launcher!
It has successfully started up and found the hardware this time. I can't find the Clevo EQ in there and it's still tinny. I'll try playing in a bit.
Thanks.
The CD has a different version (newer) of the EQ preset which looks like it actually did something..
However, I managed to accidentally remove Atlas...
I'll let you know what it's like when I get it back again (it's not on the CD that I can see)
