Hi all, first time using this service and I'm trying to build a pc for oblivion remastered on a tight budget. Could you have a look at the build and let me know your thoughts?
Thanks

Hi, I understand that we're all customers and this forum is not really occupied by staff members. I was just hoping to benefit from the collective wisdom of people who have much more experience with custom pc builds

My budget is £1200, and use is gaming. I haven't got a specific monitor, was considering using a TV as a monitor. My goal is simply to be able to play modern games, such as Oblivion remastered

At such budget is impossible to get a modern, valid gaming system at any resolution.

I'd suggest a second hand PC or a console rather than a throwaway PC.

Well, I disagree to an extent. Obviously it would be better to have a bigger budget. But you can get a PC that's worth having for £1200. It's not everything I'd want, but this PC would be worth having and would be upgradable in the future.

Note that the FPS might be a little lower than the above system (because the B580 is a bit weaker than the 7800 XT), but the overall platform is way stronger and will last a lot longer. With an upgrade or two, it could easily last seven years.

Case
CORSAIR 3000D AIRFLOW MID TOWER GAMING CASE Decent budget case
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 Six Core CPU (4.0GHz-5.2GHz/38MB CACHE/AM5) Last-gen but decent CPU
Motherboard

ASUS® TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7) Strong motherboard that will take plenty of upgrades
Memory (RAM)

32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz CL40 (2 x 16GB) Not the very fastest RAM, but you won't find that a significant bottleneck
Graphics Card

12GB INTEL ARC B580 LIMITED EDITION - HDMI, 3 x DP The best mid-range graphics card
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB CORSAIR CORE XT MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 5000 MB/R, 4400 MB/W) Plenty of decently fast storage (I'd prefer a two-SSD approach, but that can always be a later upgrade)

I respect your opinions, of course, but with a 750W, future upgrades are close to zero in my perspective.

I would never buy such a build since I would be forced to rebuild just after a few years.

With roughly £200 more than your suggestion (3500X case, 7700 CPU, 6000Mhz CL30 RAM, Frostflow 200, twin Corsair M.2, and 1000W PSU), you would have a considerably larger margin for future upgrades without incurring a significant additional cost. ;)

A 750W ATX 3.1 PSU should be good for a lot of upgrades, not to top-tier components of course, but it is certainly enough for most mid-range graphics upgrades. I'd certainly go for the 850W PSU if possible, but the budget is a reality.

Saying "there's no good system for £1200" isn't true. If £1400 was the budget, I'd make exactly the changes you suggest, but it isn't. This is a PC that's possible and I think it's worth having -- even if I would recommend spending more if possible!

Maybe, but according to the PCS picture of that 750W RMe model seems to be the old ATX2, not ATX3.

I believe it's best to ask PCS directly which model is in stock, because the ATX version is now listed in the configurator and the 750W is not recognised as ATX3.

ATX3

but the budget is a reality.
I understand, but if I can't afford something worthwhile, I'd rather wait a bit more than waste my money.

That's just my personal view, mate. ;)

Definitely worth clarification, but the ATX2 version hasn't been made for ages; I would be pretty confident it's an old photo, rather than PCS still selling one of their primary partners' ancient stock.

And I totally agree! I wouldn't buy that system either. I'd spend 20% more and get something 50% better. But if that's not an option, there is a decent PC that you can buy for £1200.
