Advice on new gaming laptop to replace Optimus Series 15.6

Hello.
I am replacing my existing PC Specialist gaming laptop and wanted some opinions on the current specification. I am looking for a device that can play most modern games on good-high quality and should last me a good while. I previously had a Optimus Series: 15.6, GeForce 960M, i7 6700HQ, which has lasted since 2015 but is finally struggling to play certain games, and run certain software. Hoping the below is a big improvement. I believe the 80WH battery is a good choice for this graphics card.

Any changes or recommendations are welcome.
Thanks

I wouldn't buy any of the current models as it's right at the end of the sales cycle, new chassis with new CPU's and GPU's are being released in March, and the improvements this generation from a CPU standpoint are SIGNIFICANT in efficiency as well as performance.

That's with AMD certainly, I wouldn't be looking too much at Intel platforms personally.

Thanks for the notes.
The new devices coming out around March, would these be quite a bit more expensive, as I really wouldn’t want to go much higher than what I am looking at. Unless the current models available would be dropping. I don't need the power of the new 5000 model GPU, as I am hoping the 4060 would last a good while?

Are there any notes on what the CPU/GPU may be?

Can I ask what the issue is with Intel, I know of the recent issue with the 13/14000 but I believe that has been rectified?

Thanks

No, unlikely rectified by analyst expectations, only Intel have claimed it's an actual fix, but it was their 4th "fix" after all affected processors had been replaced, all that's happened is it's going to take a while longer before the same thing happens. At an estimate, expect another total whitewash between september 2025 to march 2026

Thanks for confirming, I may have a look at non-intel devices alongside this then.
Would this device as a whole be any good, and ideally future proof a bit?

It’s a 1440p screen with a GPU that would struggle at 1080p.

Laptops are far more expensive than desktop equivalent hardware and for less performance. So a laptop 4070 will be around a desktop 4060. And since you can’t upgrade it, the only thing you can do to “future proof” is to overshoot the GPU as much as possible.

But To play remotely decent games you’d need an entry level GPU of a 4070 and even then it would struggle in a lot of titles.

Short answer is no, it would a poor investment and need replacing quite quickly

Thanks for your thoughts, what about the rest of the components? I can look into improved GPU as an alternative, and alternative CPU once I read more into the Intel risks.

As already advised, I wouldn't recommend any of the current models as they're already outdated with the improvements that are coming out in the new generation of processors and connectivity. It wouldn't be a wise investment buying one of these models.

If you come back in march we should know more about the upcoming stocks.

I will keep an eye on the website around March then. My current laptop still gets me by, but hopefully March shows some improved options.
