16" Recoil (4090) - NVIDIA Control Center Says No Advanced Optimus

Hey All,

I have printed and attached the system information logfile provided by NVIDIA control center (I cannot attach the .txt file, so I took a screenshot). In case it is relevant, my Intel ARC driver version is 31.0.101.4502. In the control center, I noticed there was an option to enable/disable MUX switch but both options produce the same result with the NVIDIA Control Center. I also do not see the "switching from igpu to dgpu" when I open games, i.e. the games open seamlessly. My battery life is around 2-3 hours, which made me really think I do not have MUX switch enabled. Please help!

If you've enabled MUX, that will disable GPU switching, it totally bypasses the iGPU straight to the Nvidia card so as far as the system is concerned there is only the Nvidia GPU

Thanks, can you take a screenshot of your optional updates page?
I attached what I could find in terms of optional updates.

I tried with the option enabled and disabled, just to check the difference (could not notice any). Right now the option is off, and even after a reboot NVIDIA control panel says there's no advanced optimus.

Have you reset or reinstalled windows at any time? Can you post a screenshot of your device manager?

No, but I uninstalled and reinstalled the NVIDIA graphics drivers a couple of times because of the freezing issues that has been later resolved by the BIOS update provided by PCS. Before I did any of this, the NVIDIA Control Panel was failing to detect advanced optimus anyways. If you want to see a spesific tab within the device manager, I can expand and post it. If I expand all, it will not fit.

I would suggest a clean install to start from scratch, and test it from there before installing any 3rd party software.

I have the same issue. I have a new 2024 recoil 16. Ive spent the whole day trying to trouble shoot this.

Has this been resolved for GulApa?

Its a bit insane to have a premium laptop thats supposed to have both g sync and advanced optimus yet it doesnt show it.

PCS needs to do a proper FAQ on this issue and solve it because its completely unfair.

That’s was their final update, no idea if it was fixed or not. But normally an issue like this would be due to drivers incoresctly installed

if you want to create your own thread we can troubleshoot.

Recoil 2024 does not have advanced optimus. Nowhere in the webpage it does say so. It has regular optimus and that's it. Turns out display does support g-sync and advanced optimus but the motherboard lacks the relevant MUX chip. Considering XMG version with 4090 costs 800 euros more, I would still go for PCS.

Thanks for confirming, that sounds like you’ve had that confirmed by PCS.

It also ''doesnt say it has G SYNC''.... but it does. I mean thats a pretty big detail to skimp on. Why wouldnt you declare that.

Spyder tracks, does tong fang ship exactly the same chassis with the same display worldwide or is there variance? And have PSC chosen to go for a more basic display?

Where are you seeing it has gsync?

The display is not part of the chassis, it’s a component that SIs choose based on their partnerships and preferences.

its all been clearly outlined in your thread here:https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...nc-not-showing-in-nvidia-control-panel.97356/

Best to comment there as this isn’t your thread

The display is not part of the chassis made by TongFang. The chassis is only the actual chassis (case) and motherboard with embedded gpu And battery and charger

I know what panel it is - https://www.panelook.com/NE160QDM-NZA_BOE_16.0_LCM_parameter_62643.html

I asked all these questions pre - purchase. ie does it have a mux switch, does it have advanced optimus, g sync etc...because i was aware every other manufacturer was showing these details. I believed I got clarification. But presently, the screens supplied are g sync except it does not show up in the nvidia control centre
