Windows 11 setup black screen

Hello. I have just received my new workstation (looks great!) and am just going through the windows 11 setup procedure I have connected to WiFi and given my pc its name. It then moves on to “checking for updates” and then the screen goes black and the monitors go into safe mode?

Is this correct? Or is there a problem?

Many thanks in advance.

although I rebooted and skipped the ‘name your of’ bit and it seems to have moved on to the actual windows update so panic over for now. Seventh time lucky. :)

I believe that cooler is nowhere near enough for the 9950X3D.
To efficiently cool this CPU, you'll need at least a premium 280mm (preferably 360mm) AIO.

It seemed to be ok in the configurator when I ordered it? Do you think it will cause problems?
It's dependent on your CPU usage: intensive multicore use will almost certainly result in heavy thermal throttling.
The configurator did not flag anything because it only estimates TDP (a worthless metric) rather than the processor's maximum power draw as a result of CPU usage.

As evidenced by the real 3rd party reviews below, the 9950X3D's max power draw well exceeds the max cooling capacity of the Frostflow 150.

In the future, if you are unsure about the hardware, it's always recommended to seek guidance before purchasing anything. :)

PS There are other areas that are sub-par, estimating a total cost of the build of over £4000.
I would ask a refund (within 14 days of receiving the PC) and seek advice on the forum on a well-designed system for your needs.

The configurator rarely offers advice...just lists parts that will fit / are compatible...not necessarily suitable for now or the long term.

For example, if you select 4800MHz RAM it won't tell you that it's too slow...but on the other hand if you try to fit a 360mm AIO into a mini case, it will tell you it won't fit.

It's just a tool for customers to configure a PC to their own design.

If a customer is not sure on parts, then the forum is a good place to ask (or to get roasted and kicked into the gutter depending on what mood we're that day ;) )!
