Windows 10 upgrade and WinTV v7 2.8a Remote Control

Hi all. The IR remote doesn't work after reboot so I have to uninstall and reinstall it (using 2.8a driver link from Hauppauge site then it works fine again). Anyone else have this problem please?
It's a nuisance as it takes about 20 mins to do that. There is an IR Restart exe but although that worked on Windows 7, it doesn't on 10, for me at least. Any ideas? Thank you.

Another issue with WinTV V7 I experience is an error which is fine if just quit and open again, but it somehow causes all my recordings list to be shown in triplicate, or if error arrives again in sixtuplicate or nine-tuplicate. TBH I don't think this has happened since on Windows 10 so maybe that was a W.7 issue?

My computer has been fine since I bought it here - it'll be 2 years old in a couple of months - and thanks again for extensive help on the initial spec I received.

Regards and Happy New Year

WIndows 10 is very much still a work in progress and there are known driver issues with it. My best advice is that you either Google the specific issues you have or that you contact the Win TV vendor and establish what compatibility issues there are with Windows 10. PCS should be able to help with the IR issue.

These are almost certainly Windows 10 issues, if they are serious enough to be a problem for you then you might be better off reverting to Windows 7, at least until July just before the free upgrade offer expires.

Thank you for your reply ubuysa. As the IR remote issue is one I can live with, I'll look into it again when time permits.

So far, I haven't found Windows 10 to be causing problems with other software so I'm inclined to stick with it for now since we'll all seemingly have to upgrade to it sooner or later.

It seems odd that no-one on here has replied to say that they also have the IR issue which makes me wonder if it's to do with my start-up items. Anyway, I'll update this if or when I figure it out.

My IR Remote is now working again automatically after each reboot by having upgraded to WinTV V8. V8 is a free download if you have an original WinTV disk, link here:
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_wintv8.html
I learned that V8 is recommended for Windows 10 and so far it is fine on my desktop. It doesn't seem much different in what it does although it does look different - more "in your face" colour scheme until you get used to it.

One disadvantage is that the signal monitor doesn't seem to be supported on V8, which I had found useful as I use a set-top aerial, but hey ho. On the plus side, I haven't had run-time errors and generic handling errors (i.e. crashing) yet, which is good, though still might happen I suppose since I don't know what causes those.

The download took me a few attempts to figure it out as it kept saying "compatible hardware not found" (meaning couldn't find card). There seems to be a correct sequence re when to restart (I can't remember how I eventually finally did it). Also need to unplug IR from USB socket until after download completed.

Incidentally, I had already updated to 2.8a extend and seeming V8 thus includes extend automatically. Haven't done extend to my mobile yet...

I'm probably talking into thin air if no-one else had this problem. Weird that.

Edit: forgot to say that the IR restart exe option works again, yay.
