Windows 10 Clean Install

Hi

I'm looking to do a clean install of Windows 10 for my desktop to give it a freshen up.

It's a 2015 build which originally came with Windows 7 pre installed and it then did the free upgrade to Win10.

I've scoured the web and am getting differing results as to if you're able to do this without having to purchase a fresh Win10 key/buying 10 afresh due to it being a free upgrade.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to do this without MS attempting to charge?

Cheers

Microsoft have never charged simply to fresh install, it's something that should be done at least annually as a matter of course if you want to maintain optimal performance.

In the old days, they'd invalidate the license if there was a platform hardware change like motherboard or processor. But that hasn't been the case since Windows 8, you can carry licenses across to whole new builds now legitimately.

Remember windows 10 is out of support as of October this year.
