Will this work?

Hi,

I've now got 3 monitors, but I can't actually run them off my current machine :( (as the motherboard only accepts 1 graphics card!)

Can anyone tell me if this will be ok with a 2nd GFX card? I took a look on google for the particular motherboard, and it appears that it will support a 2nd graphics card ok?

Also, any recommendations for that machine?

I don't wanna spend stupid amounts of money - but I tend to buy a new PC every year, as I use it for work (and the faster/more efficient the better!)

TIA

I would suggest dropping the two cards and going for something like the 6850 which has 2 x DVI and 1 x HDMI, it can run three monitors for considerably less cash.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! Not sure why I didn't get an email :/

Are you referring to the Radeon HD6850 GFX card?

TIA!

BTW, are the 6 Core processor motherboards that much better than a 4 core? I keep forgetting you can get more than 4 processors now... and my friend reminded me this morning after I showed him the spec machine I was going to get =)

Also, just having a look - now I don't need the dual GFX card slots, would this motherboard cope ok with the fact I want to run 3 monitors?

ASUS m4a87td , instead of ASUS m4a89td PRO (seems there is quite a considerable price difference :))

TIA

Andy

Hey,

There are pro's & cons to all components - for example in games, a 4 Core CPU would probably still be better.

Please give us a budget to work towards, any specific requirements and what you will use the PC for. We will then be able to put together some quotes.

Hi,

Thanks. Well its a work PC, which will have 3 monitors (2 x 24" and 1 x 32")

I tend to have at least 10-15 programs open at once, and some of those are pretty gobbling on the RAM and CPU (such as Photoshop, and even Firefox for some reason)

Thats pretty much it. I also have 1 x SSD (64gb) , 1 x 500 GB Hybrid and 1 x 500 GB (normal) ... so I'm gonna transfer of the SSD + Hybrid, and use those for the OS + programs ... and then the 500gb one for my music etc, which doesn't need to be mega quick

Regarding a budget - I was looking at the £800 mark

TIA

Hi,

Just wondering if you had a chance to look at some specs based on my budget? The new tax year start tomorrow, so I'll be looking at buying it then ;)

Hi,

Could someone get back to my please? :) Holding off buying the new one until I've heard back, as there is no point spending loads of money, if the components won't give optimum performance ;)

TIA
