You can check venchmarks for the gtx 960. I would choose something different but that depends on your budget, you also have a low resolution monitors which sorts of defeats having a gaming gpu.

Yep just noticed the monitor. Once changed to 1920x1080 that should be fine. Would you suggest AMD 3 GB R9 280 over the Nvidea graphics card?

Better gpu, better cpu, slightly higher than the spec you posted but significantly better for gaming. If you can push your budget further I would go with a caviar black as the main drive
