Any RAM you buy XMP / DOCP / EXPO will be set correctly for that RAM, you don’t need to do anything, it comes fully built. The BIOS are the standard ones you’d get if you’re buying the motherboard yourself, they’re not made by PCS but by the board partners

Unless you’re talking about a laptop in which case they auto clock the RAM to match the SODIMMS to the max supported by that motherboard. You can’t adjust memory setting on a laptop BIOS

okay so id be able to manually change settings like enabling XMP if i wish?? (its a PC)
Yes, but it will already be set correctly for the RAM you order. It’s a normal motherboard, it’s not made by PCS or anything, they’re the standard ASUS / Gigabyte BIOS

okay sorry i just play valorant competitively and i had my old pc optimised for performance however in the bios optimisation the pre built company that i had bought from had blocked changing bios settings. thats why i was unsure with this pc im making on PCS website im spending alot of money on a pc and ive read alot about xmp making your pc be fully working at the best speeds it can thats why i was curious if id be able to enable it if for some reason it wasnt enabled.

may i send you the specs and you give me your opinion if you have spare time id love your input you seem very knowledgeable.

PCS are a System Integrator rather than a manufacturer. All parts are "off the shelf" rather than the proprietary nonesense that you get with the likes of Dell and HP.

As SpyderTracks has said already, PCS will set up everything correctly (including enabling XMP). You'll be able to tinker around in the BIOS to your heart's content but just because you can does not mean you should. If you don't know what you are doing things can go south very quickly.

On another note - you might want to consider using an AMD CPU rather than Intel. The high-end Intel CPUs have been experiencing stability and temperature issues of late. Intel at first blamed the board partners for not sticking to Intel default settings, which is part of the problem, but they turned a blind eye to it as it was making them look better, until the CPUs began to cook.

Intel actually dictated the overclocked settings as being within spec, that’s been confirmed by various sources for years. So according to Intel the unlimited voltage that’s available to the CPU is completely by design, they know if they do what’s necessary and force board partners to apply the rated voltage limitations, Intel cpus will lose up to 20% multicore performance.

Personally I would go with the 4080 with 32GB.

Edit: And don't let Norton anywhere near your system. It was good many years ago but is little better than malware these days.

I find Windows Defender just fine.

A bunch of things make little sense here. 64GB RAM for gaming is pointlesss. The 990 is very fast, but poor value. The cooler and fans are absurd overkill.

What is your budget? What monitor do you have?

We have no idea on power requirements yet to have any idea what GPU is suitable.

if the OP can go through the following and update? Without this info its impossible to say what’s worthwhile

no, read it fine, as above, without knowing some info it’s like asking if this piece of string is long enough without having any idea what it’s made from or what it’s for

Simple, and not exactly perfect, summary (and just in my opinion)…
  • 4060Ti/4070 for 1080p
  • 4070 Ti Super for 1440p/UW1440p
  • 4080 Super for 4K

64GB RAM will make zero difference to anything you’re running that doesn’t actually need it. Do you KNOW you have an app that requires it?

Just in case you’re seeing something different to me, what i posted is a link to an article that specifies the information required to be able to give you specific tailoring of a custom PC

PCs are designed to that specific use case and budget, the entire thing has to balance otherwise you get huge bottlenecks as the system will only perform to the weakest components capabilities, so each component has to match the next and be suitable for the power it’s driving and the useage required of it

It seems a lot of people don’t understand it’s a link and don’t read the title of it
