Why does my new PC sound like a hoover?

Got my new PC today, first switch on and i noticed it was very noisey. Setup my user settings but it's ridiculously loud so checked the forum and presumed it was my case fan, opened up the case but the noise seems to be coming from the graphics card, it sounds like a hoover.

Is there anything that can be done to make this a lot quieter? (video doesnt really highlight how loud it is)

Are you able to post the full specs?
(Go to your PCS account page, orders/my orders and click on show next to the dispatched order, will give you full specs, scroll down to "post to forums" then copy/paste the page that comes up)

How are the fans setup to run? Does the speed vary/do you have control over them or are they at a constant speed?

The case and PSU are likely not helping with the noise levels.... not overly sure how good the case is for thermals/airflow and I would think that PSU is running near max capacity/fans full tilt most of the time.

Any software suites for controlling the GPU?

There may not be a huge amount you can do without changing half the components.... but see what can be suggested once youve got the full specs up and investigated a little.

Also, cant see that video without logging in, I think you may need to rate it so it knows its child friendly...

the only software installed is armoury crate. im not even doing anything and the graphics card fans are making such a noise.

The noise from the case fans is minimal. I initially thought it was the rear case fan but i was able to unplug this from the motherboard, thats how i was able to hear it was either the graphics card or PSU but im 90% sure it's from the graphics card fans.

The video is rubbish and offers no value so just ignore it thanks.

Looking at those specs, i'm feeling pretty suspicious of the buiild as a whole....
Youve got a lot of heat being produced in there, and I doubt the cooler is handling it particularly well. PSU is going to be near teh top end of its output so again, fans on full and generally speaking most advise to steer clear of the PCS own brand cases.... it does look like theres lots of ventilation but I cant tell if the fans are PMW fans or not (so if the speed is variable).

That could well mean the case is holding heat in/airflow is poor, and so the GPU is working even harder to vent itself and keep its own temps down.

Do you know what make/model the GPU is? Looks like youve ordered the standard one from PCS rather than a specific branded one, but PCS use a few different ones (Palit/Zotac tend to be common).

Unfortunately, the fans aren't PWM so aren't variable speed, they just run at a constant speed, directly powered by the PSU.

You could potentially replace them with a set of Corsair MLs or the like as a quick fix. But it’s like putting a plaster over an infected wound, there’s more than just that issue.

Pickle.... I'm probably gonna break your heart saying it... but have you considered returning it for a refund?
Even if you find its the GPU needing something like firestorm etc for proper control over its own fans, theres a lot of issues you are gonna have with what you have spec'd/bought.

Big one being the 12900 Intel chip paired with a H100X (that cooler is a very old model, and would normally be avoided anyway, plus the 12900 really does need a proper high spec cooler).

Im assuming you are gaming on it (or intend to?) but i'm almost 100% sure if you returned it and got your money back, for the same budget you would be able to get a spec with help off the guys on the forum that would be much, much better.
It looks like youve focused all your budget on the CPU choice and then been handicapped everywhere else... theres a real risk of toasting half your components and that PSU is a big big limiting factor for future upgrade potential.

I know thats gonna be tough to hear.

I'd second this, if the system is at idle, I wouldn't expect the GPU fans to be running to be honest

I'm almost certain it's the cooler fans and the case fans. The cooler is by no means appropriate for the cpu.

The case isn't suitable either unfortunately and fans will be noisy.

Fans are gonna be maxxing out constantly generally in that build and it will still be throttling

I would also suggest returning it a d getting some advice before ordering

From what I can see, this is pretty much what you ordered:

I would suggest returning for a full refund, and then going for a spec along these sort of lines

You would be getting far, far more for your money and far better performance.

Ok, thanks. I'll get onto them tomorrow about returning it.

I have £1800 to spend so will get back on here once it's all sorted.

Thanks All.

the guys on here are great, returning sounds a good idea. i will just say this out of curiosity when i had my pc back after an rma . the GPU was so loud, i called pcs and i ended up looking at the GPU fans, one was not spinning, so the other two working so hard causing the noise. It was one of the rubber pieces from the support bracket i think had found its way into a fan stopping it to rotate.

Just some info that may help someone
