I was just wondering, whats better for my desktop - Leaving it on ALL the time (restarting for updates etc only) or turning it off when I'm not actually using it.

Take this - if I wanted my computer to last 10 year (hypothetically speaking) would it be best to keep it on or off!

Thanks in advance!

Not sure which way is best and depends on a lot of diff factors I guess

My current PC ( Fujitsu ) is near 4 yr old and has been on almost constantly since got it - has a 1TB back up shared drive thats full of movies etc that everyone else in the house accesses from their comps so rarely turn it off.

In that time have had a HDD failure and one memory stick go down but couldnt say whether that would have happened if switched off when not in use

Theoretically you could run it 24/7 if you wanted, but you'd be using electricity so i don't see the point :p It'll cost you more.

Guess theres no harm in turning it off so the components aren't running all the time :)
