What to do first?

Hi guys, although this is my first post I've been browsing the forums over the past few weeks while I've been putting together and ordering my new lappy.

After patiently waiting it's now been dispatched and I'm expecting delivery tomorrow, my question is - what do I do first?

I'm assuming I'll have to install Windows 7 and all the relevant drivers, am I supplied with the most recent ones or will I have to go to the relevant manufacturers website to get right up to date?

Also, what's currently the best virus / anti-spie+ad-ware software at the moment with emphasis being on least intrusive? (preferably free or at least most reasonably priced)

Finally, what's the most cost effective benchmarking software so I can check everything's in good working order. I've never benchmarked one of my pc's before so how long does this normally take?

Thanks in advance!

If you ordered it with an OS, you will need to finish the install, but all this means is filling in a few bits and pieces like what you want your PC named, putting in the CD key etc. Also there should be the latest drivers already installed (and supplied on CD), but it generally never hurts to checks for updates anyway.

and you pay for bitdefender? yeh MSessentials is better, and FREE, or the alternative Avast

Yep, I pay about £15 or so for a year's licence. BitDefender Internet Security has consistenly ranked amongst the top 3 Internet Security Suites from the last 3 years :)
I have been using it personally for the last 2.5 years - never had any issues or infections.

just because it says you dont have any infections, it doesnt mean you dont have any, there are a lot of harmless types of viruses that just sit there and enjoy using up RAM and often network

try malwarebytes, you may be suprised

ESET Smart Security 4 is what I have for my new pc.

Been using AVG for the past few years, it is good at making sure you dont get a virus but still had a few problems. Once it though i tunes was a trojan :turned:
