It's simple to see how RAM or a GPU can be better than each other, but how do you decipher how one motherboard is better than the other? and what makes a motherboard good?

Lololol thank you, doing graphic design gives you amazing creativity and imagination :D

Yeah, I considered going into it for a sixth form A level, but after doing a unit of it during my 2yr gcse IT course i realised that even though i found going onto the software and just making something, the hand drawn part and justifying the graphic to a specification and describing it's audience and purpose bores me shitless >.<

That's the advantage if being freelance - minimum paperwork, maximum productivity and great profits :D

If you got an A or above in your Maths GCSE, you'll do fine, it's just a BIG step forward and kinda hard to get your head round stuff at times. The same with Physics. English... I didn't pick it, but from my GCSE experience and from what friends have told me, is hard as HELL to do well in. Computing should be fun, wish I had the opportunity to pick it :(

Nah, maths isn't that boring, physics definately isn't :) English will be though (unless you enjoy that kindof thing) and computing should be really good actually, but I have no experience in those last two.
