What are the tiny holes on a Vortex IV laptop for?

I get that the one next to the touchpad seems to be the mic, but what are the holes on either side of the web cam? One on the right side seems to have a 'shiny' metallic and deeper bottom whereas the the left side appears to be a bit shallower. Hard to tell though as there is nothing (And I don't go poking in unknown holes).
Tapping slightly all around the case (screen and base) triggers the microphone so it is hard to tell which one is the actual mic.

Is this a secondary mic or just an unused hole in the case? Not that important as such but if they are unused I will fill them up to prevent dust finding its way in.

Otherwise, the laptop has been pretty good since receiving it a few months ago.. Doesn't get as much use as the desktop, but the laptop is quite a bit more pricey to repair. Wish the optical port was a standard TOSLINK but two other machines fill role of HTPC.

I have no idea, I am actually curious myself. Have you try checking the manual?

I'd guess at least one of the ones next to the camera was the mic, but I've no clue and its just a guess.

Keynes photos on his review don't really help either :D

They are almost certainly installed to monitor you by the NSA.

Or slightly more probably... One might be an ambient light sensor, the other might well have something to do with that too but maybe for the webcam to help it focus or something... But yeah I'd leave them alone.

The one on the left is the PC Camera LED and the one on the right is the built in microphone.

This information is from the service manual.

It's the one next to the touchpad which is the mystery as the service manual doesn't specify.

I guess the screen and base were both designed to be able to accept a built-in microphone. Obviously only one of them is being used on the Vortex IV but it probably simplifies production, the base and/or screen may be used in other laptops for example?

Either that, or the hole is to release the pressurised air that builds up inside the case when you press on the touchpad. Possibly....
