So I was about to invest in an updated 3 x Mesh satellite kit, my go to is Ubiquiti who are more of a SME/Enterprise grade manufacturer. I was looking at their AP WiFi 6 Mesh which is a single satellite, but can cover up to 1500 square meters which is substantially larger than most home solutions. It's also waterproof so can be used outside powered by PoE, so this could tie in wirh the below if I have any outdoor space when I eventually move.
This would be to replace the BT Mesh setup which won't be compatible with the fibre setup, and I'll give my old 3 x Google wifi satellites to my folks as will suit them perfectly and I've become more uncomfortable with their use of personal data since I bought them.
But just as I was about to click buy, I saw this bad boy, and for the features it includes, it's very good value, cheaper than a lot of high end home routers.
This thing is really cool. Has an enterprise grade wifi AP in rhe roof which should be ample for the size I'll eventually be serving. It's full wifi 6e
Has 4 x GbE, 2 of which are PoE which is mega cool
Can add up to 15 Mesh satellites, OK never going to need that many but still cool.
Has native OS Management interface which includes a SmartHub for any IOT devices. Not so uncommon these days, but still pretty cool. Can be accessed locally or over in built VPN server, also seriously cool. Has 128Gb NVME built in for live camera recordings, not certain if that's user upgradeable (you can bet ill be investigating) but it also has SDXC card support for expanded storage.
Supports up to 300 concurrent connections, again, never gonna need it but will likely end up needing over the 50 that my current setup supports.
Downside is that it doesn't have a muti-gig WAN port, so only supports Internet connections up to 700mbs, but fir my uses for a while, that will be ample.
It's a pretty nifty package.
But keep an eye on this company, they are really shaking up the professional marketplace with their smart switches
