Looks sweet, is that a light up keyboard or is it just the way the pictures are taken?

Read full specs and yeah, should read before I type :)

I'm so getting one of these. Exactly what I've been waiting for.

I'd very much like to know a bit more about the panel before I order one. Some reports suggest it's an IPS panel but I can't see any mention of this in the configurator?

I'm intrigued as to why it's a very similar cost to the 15.6" Optimus as I was expecting this to cost a fair bit more after reading "It is not going to be cheap as it's packed full of top spec features". Considering the chassis and panel quality, and the fact the new Skyfire model (with an inferior panel and a 760m rather than a 765m) is very similar priced I think this W230ST is a bit of a bargain.

Update - just received word from PCS. Disappointingly, the panel isn't the IPS 1080p one :-(

Hopefully this will be an option soon.

Might be a silly question, but what actually are the difference between the 15.6" Optimus and the new model, that make the 13.3" one such a bargain? Aside from the 15.6"'s bigger screen and the 13.3"'s backlit keyboard, the specifications and customization options on the site are identical. xP

Think its just a case of having so much power in such a little chassis. Its quite appealing as people who buy gaming laptops, well in my case anyway, need it to be portable and a 13" is a god send.

Agreed - smaller form factor typically comes at a higher price (past a certain point, as typically there are minimal differences between 17" and 15" but moving below 15" historically started to crank up the price). The smaller chassis containing all those (identical, as you say) high spec components needs thoughtful design to dissipate the heat. The W230ST is a really nice chassis. For portability there really isn't anything else out there now with Clevo discontinuing the 11.6" chassis.

I was also assuming/hoping that the 13.3" panel type would be the 1080p Chi Mei IPS with fantastic viewing angles and brightness. I'm hoping someone can tell me what panel the PCS variant has.

Clevo don't offer you a choice of panel on this model, they simply supply a 1080p display with high viewing angles, meaning either AUO or Chi Mei depending on which they have stock of. PC Specialist could always manually replace the panel (as could we) but I'm sure that'll cost extra.

It's interesting to see that the listing for the W230ST now states it does come with a full HD IPS panel, which conflicts with what I was told when I contacted PCS directly.

Regardless, that's good news!

I will let you know if mine ships this week. *Fingers crossed*
