Hi,

Just bought the below laptop, wondering if anyone has experience with similar specs in terms of its cooling capability? Is it going to be a case of cooling stand 100% of the time for games??

Also all spec comments welcome! :)

Thx

Hello Kezmod and welcome to the forums,

Your spec looks good so far but just to make sure that its speced to your requirements could you give us an idea of the purposes your laptop need to serve? i.e. gaming? What games? Do you do any rendering, CAD, photoshop etc? Also do you have a budget in mind incase we can suggest any improvements or savings etc.

I have had a Vortex 2 which is now 2 years old and although i have a cooling stand i use it occasionally just to get the laptop off the table for typing. I've never had any problem with cooling as the Vortex chassis is amazing at its job. My GPU runs at between 85 and 95 degrees which is within the safe zone, i believe that the new GPU's however are running cooler i have seen figures in the 70's for for cooling the vorext series will not disappoint you.

Im running games such as Borderlands 2, Battlefield 4, Assassins creed etc. Quite heavy games and although the fans do make a bit of noise its never enough to bother me and you cannot really hear it over the laptops internal speakers.

I also run my laptop 24/7, its really never off and in the 2 years so i can say its been pretty well tested.

Hope this helps and if we can be any more help give us a shout.

Mike

Hi,

Thankyou for the reply, It will be primarily for gaming, I wanted something that will last me a good 3 years which i think it should. Dark Souls 2, Titanfall down to Wildstar & Diablo 3 etc level of games im hoping it wont have problems with.

Good to hear about how it handles the cooling as its definalty the main thing that will effect the laptops longevity!

£1100 - £1400 range max
