Vortex IV Upgrading

Hiya.

I was wondering about how easily upgradable the Vortex is.
My thinking is such. I don't know that I can spring for a 780M or 32Gb memory(not sure I'd need to right now or ever, still..) but if I concentrate what cash I can spend on the chip and look to swap a 770M later in life for a 780M or better depending on when that was going to be.
Likewise with the memory, adding another 16Gb at some point when (if) it became necessary.

So I guess what I'm asking is does anyone have any realworld examples and experience of opening up a Vortex chassis and poking about in there to remove/change stuff.

I'm not shy of such things having owned the 'same' desktop PC for years now. The desktop version of 'granny's broom' (4 new heads, 8 new handles but still the same broom!) but I can't say I've had the same fun with laptops, save opening them up to clean out fluff blocking the vents etc.

I'm assuming that given the nature of the custom options and the fact that they're configurable when you order that this is the case but some reassurance (and pics?) would be great!

Personally I think it is not going to be cost effective to replace the gpu. I am assuming you will upgrade after a while, buying a mobile gpu is likely to be difficult and mobile GPUs are usually quite expensive.

Not something I've tried on a laptop but now you mention, there is a distinct lack of available laptop GPU's for sale.
Memory will be straightforward enough I suppose, so what about the CPU itself?
(just trying to think that having to pay for the GPU up fromt, where else could be pared back for another day)

I assume buying a CPU by the time you need an upgrade would also be difficult to do since your motherboard only will support a certain series of CPUs. I have seen videos on YouTube, adding more ram or replacing the CPU seems straight forward.

I suppose I'm thinking going from the i7 4810 to the 4940 for example as the suggested list of CPU's offered. Theres quite a jump in price currently which will only come down in a couple of years and would provide a bit of a boost as an 'upgrade' in time.

Do you think it will provide a noticeable improvement in performance? And I don't think you will be able to get the CPU from PCS in 2 years time, you may need to get it from a 3rd party retailer.
