Vortex IV - sound problem and blue screen

Morning everyone,
I am having a couple of problems with my vortex. I would usually call technical support for a quick fix but I am out of the country for a couple of weeks.
I am getting this blue screen twice so far:

And lately I have experienced this interminent noise background when gaming and using my headphones, it takes place with every game I play. There is a Soundblaster X-fi3 sticker on my laptop but no software available for it (not in the disc supplied either). I also have a program called THX Truestudio PC but since receiving the laptop I am unable to activate it, I keep getting the following message:

I contacted technical support a couple of months ago regarding the sound software, they sent me some links to update but it didn't work, any help would be appreciated.

It mentions 'BIOS' in the BSOD, have you looked to see if there is a newer version...maybe on the Clevo webiste?

I have a THX program on my Vortex, not sure it actually does anything though. I had a sticker with a serial code stuck to one of the discs from PCS which I had to use to activate it. When I had some issues with sound i updated the Realtek drivers and it seemed to sort itself out, think I had to go to Clevo for these as well...it was a while ago so its all a bit hazy tbh mate, sorry.

I don't know what the model number is for the Vortex IV and I was under the impression Clevo has only Windows 8 drivers online. I am a bit apprehensive to update the BIOS unless PCS suggests I should do it.

Think yours is the P177SM? A quick search confirms you can only download Win8 audio drivers if it is though. Pester PCS for current drivers or just reinstall the ones you got with it originally?

Ask PCS for BIOS advice, I haven't even booted into BIOS on my lappy so have no idea how easy it'll be. Desktop ASUS boards make it really easy, you can even roll back if you have a problem.

I email technical support, can't call them right now since I am hiding around Eastern Europe :shifty:
Mine is 15 inches so it may not be the one you suggested. Hope I can get it sorted soon, a few hours for the release of nazi zombie elite 2.

Ahh, i thought you had the 17", its actually not the 77 anyways, would have been the 70. 77 looks like the Vortex Elite.

P150SM then I think mate.

I know, looking forward to zombie elite, the first one completely passed me by somehow.
