Vortex iv se vs mini itx

Hi everyone! 1st post here! I need help with what to buy. I'm after either a vortex iv se with a gtx 980m, or a bit fenix prodigy mini itx build with a gtx 980 in it. I can't make up my mind which to buy. Both have their pros and cons.

Vortex iv se pros: portability and space efficient. Powerful. Like the idea of gaming while sat on the couch while the other half watches tv.

Vortex iv se cons: it's not as powerful as a gaming rig. Expensive! Longevity issues, will it last 4 years or so playing the latest games at maximum settings?

Prodigy Pro's: very powerful. Cheaper than the laptop. Upgradeable. Reasonably space efficient, so can have it in my TV cabinet.

Prodigy cons: quite like the idea of using a TV as a monitor if I go for this, so means buying a TV capable of doing the computer justice. Need peripherals - keyboard, mouse, etc. By the time I've bought the pc, tv and the extras I'm at the same price as the laptop......

Thank you for reading this long post. Any insight, ideas, thoughts anyone has would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Ian

It is really up to you, you know better what your requirements are but I personally don't think there is a comparison between them. A laptop is ok when you don't have a choice of a desktop, if you can get a desktop I would go with one.

Other than wanting to have a top spec nvidia graphics card my requirements are pretty basic I guess :) I play my games at 1080p, never tried anything higher. Play a lot of RPG's and action games. Like my graphics turned up full and plenty of graphics mods on if available. I've built a pc once before, an AMD rig. It was a horrible ownership experience! Never going with AMD again!
