Vortex IV 17.3" - How to remove the keyboard?

Hi guys,

So I've needed a replacement keyboard, and I've opted for the fit it myself option. I've removed the flexible cover over the screws, and then removed the screws, and the service manual states I should carefully lift the keyboard up, not bending it, but I lift it up, it just won't budge. I am stuck, I don't want to damage either the laptop or the keyboard. I didn't want to send the whole laptop in for a new keyboard, which I have replaced in the past, but this one just won't budge. The middle seems more free than the sides, so are there more screws on the sides or some tabs or something holding it down?

Thanks guys!

Wow, I wish I had of thought of that lol. Well the replacement may be coming tomorrow and I won't be here until after it arrives so I need to prep everything for my fiancée to do the swap with DPD, so I'm a bit stuck :(.

I love sarcasm :) ubuysa posted a thread on how to do it but it was for an Optimus chassis. I would still suggest giving PCS a call tomorrow morning before the collection takes place.

No sarcasm intended, so apologies for appearing sarcastic. :) I genuinely didn't think of calling them. I start work at 6am, I won't be home :(. But thank you for telling me about the other thread, maybe they're similar? They're both Clevo chassis aren't they?

Not a problem, I love sarcasm :)they are both Clevo chassis, you could also try contacting an administrator (Mooesh) by PM. He is very helpful and should give you a hand straight away.

Ahh yes, moosEh is extremely helpful, I have just sent him a message. He was on hand when I wanted order updates. I hope he gets on tonight.

I don't know if this helps but I used the video to help me open up and to clean my Vortex 3

If the keyboard is showing more resistance than is normal, I would definitely contact PCS rather than force it :)

Thank you for the video, yeah mine definitely isn't that easy. I can see two small plastic tabs either side of the keyboard, on the chassis, keeping it in place. I don't know if they are to do with the problem or not. I kinda don't want to force it because I don't want to break those tabs.

Okay, I don't know how I did it, but I got it out/off, I think those tabs are to do with it, just needed a little more force than I was exerting.
