Vortex IV 15.6" Review

Hi everyone, I'm going to start a review regarding my experience ordering and receiving the laptop, and then a review of the laptop once it has arrived.

Ordering Process
The website is fantastic and easy to use, as long as you are at least vaguely familiar with what is inside a computer, my only gripe would be not having the prices of the custom options where you click on them, that way you can compare all the choices at a glance without having to click on them, very small problem though. There are so many different laptop chassis' to choose from, and sometimes I found when looking at the first page (the page with lots of laptops on) that sometimes it was a bit overwhelming, and maybe they should be spread onto more pages depending on their use, I imagine it could be daunting for people that don't know much about computers. The checkout process is very easy and offers lots of ways to pay. Can't complain about that at all. I also made several amendments to my order and this was a simple process, and I really liked the fact that I could pay for the changes via a different method. This helped me a lot as I had pretty much maxed out my Credit Card.

Order Build Time
I paid extra for the 3 Working Day dispatch and even though according to my order page it was 4 working days, I make it 3. I ordered it Friday morning (which was a bank holiday, as was the Monday) so first working day was Tuesday, and it dispatched Thursday, so again very good build time, and will be happy if it arrives in time for the weekend! I did receive a few emails that didn't really make sense. I received one telling me that my laptop was in the testing stage, when really it hadn't left pre-production yet, so was a little bit confused at one point, but apart from that I was kept in the loop pretty well, and when I did have the issue the sales team were really good at answering my questions.

Forum Support
One of the things that is really great about PCS is the forums, all the people on there are so helpful and accommodating. I felt obliged to try and answer other peoples questions just because of the positive experience I had when asking questions, which is great. It feels like a nice little community and it must be one of the best features of PCS which is why I felt I had to mention it

Will update upon receiving the product (hopefully tomorrow)

Ok, well having had the laptop for a little while now I feel I am ready to post a review!

Where to start!
Delivery
Delivery was very very good. I received in the morning which I paid for extra so all in all I can't really complain or praise. I got when I expected it, that's all I look for in a delivery.

Packaging
The Laptop felt very secure in the packaging it came in. I mean it is a bit bland, but TBH it didn't bother me that much. I had fancy packaging before with an Alienware and it hasn't changed the experience for me. The most important part was definitely the security of the laptop within the packaging and it exceeded my expectations in being very secure.

Initial impression
When I first got the laptop, I was very impressed with the feel and look of the laptop, much better that it's pictures suggests. The touch pad is dreadful, it just feels too sticky. I use a wireless mouse most of the time anyway so it's not too big of an issue. But yeah it's horrible. Also the bar where the speakers are gets quite dirty and it's not easy to clean, like little bits of dust falling into the grooves. just a little annoyance. but all in all a good looking system.

Performance
This laptop performs very well and has run every game (except one) on maximum settings at 1080p. Which is pretty nice. Boot up speed is pretty darn good, and compares to my old laptop which was super fast to boot. I had a few issues with incorrect drivers being installed, or just no drivers at all for some things. I managed to sort these myself but I can imagine if you don't know much about computers that would be tricky to solve. The MSata SSD works very well but doesn't seem quite as responsive as a proper SSD which is what I had in my previous laptop. But I expected this to be the case, but if you have the money/space I would reccomend getting a 2.5" SSD.

Overall
Well, in terms of performance I would give it 10/10, handle anything you chuck at it really well, except Lord of the Rings Online, but that must be a game issue rather than a computer issue. PCS are fantastic at building your computer and getting it dispatched when you expect it to be, and also their customer service is fantastic, answering any questions you may have. I highly recommend this laptop for a portable gaming rig. if you have a decent amount of money spare to chuck at it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks for looking

I'm sure I've missed something important as I have written this in a rush, so please press me for more details if I've missed something important.
