Vortex III Stuck in sleep when the lid is opened

I've noticed that about 2 out of 3 times I close the lid to sleep the laptop and then come back some time later to find its stuck in sleep when i open it. I press the power button and the laptop boots normally, even though it was still on when i pressed power.

Running the Intel 3740QM, Nvidia 675MX and 16GB Kingston RAM.

Thanks, Jamie

EDIT: Oh and the OS is Windows 8 Pro :)

It does that on mine too and i think its a normal function.

If you go into power options you can change it so that the computer doesn't go to sleep and the screen just switches off.

You can also change what happens when you close the lid etc.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I guess I'll do that. I usually set it to hibernate when I close the lid etc but it takes a while to wak from hibernation, no problems with that though.

I doubt it's a function, my event log seems to always show the same thing, the system has restarted because of a bug check. I search online and found people with HP laptops have the same issues but with no culprit found. Some say it's when you leave chrome open but I've tried teh same with firefox and it still happens. Others have said its to do with parts of the OS that are the same as Windows Server.

I have no idea though tbh heh.
