Vortex III - Need Help choosing components for Purchasing

I have my spec for the Vortex - Which includes:
  • i7 3720QM (2.6Ghz)
  • 16Gb RAM (1333Mhz)
  • 180Gb SSD (330) Hard Drive with 750Gb SATAII
  • 4Gb nVidia GTX 608M
  • Arctic MX4 Compound
  • Wireless Gaming 1102 Card

Primary use will be gaming although will replace my desktop (3.2Ghz Black, GTX 285)

I have a couple of questions on the setup;

1.) 16Gb RAM - will I really see the difference between using 8Gb and 16Gb RAM - if not should I go for better 8Gb RAM (1600) rather than lower 16Gb RAM? The same 16Gb RAM is close to £75 between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz - is that worth the upgrade?
2.) 180Gb - This will be my primary drive and all games, etc will be stored on the secondary internal drive - whats the startup time on these drives and is it worth upgrading to the 180Gb SSD 520 ?
3.) Is there any noticable difference between the 2Gb GTX 675M and 4Gb 680M? I have come to realise that just because the number and RAM is higher doesn';t necessary mean its a better card! I assume both will play modern games as well as my desktop.
4.) Arctic Compound - Is this a necessity for a laptop upgrade rather than using the standard thermal paste?
5.) Matte vs Glossy - I know Glossy is suppose to be better for gaming on laptops but is it really noticeably if I get Matte or Matte AUO?
6.) Whats the difference between the normal wireless card and the Wireless Gaming 1102 Card? They both appear to be 'N'

TO ADD:
7.) Can you turn off Touchpad Mouse? (HP have this facility) Just wondered

Thanks,

Neil

Not in gaming
between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz
For gaming the additional memory bandwidth would not provide a noticeable improvement

I have the intel 330 and 520 and I can't really tell the difference in terms of speed running applications, it would take around 25 seconds for windows to boot. The 330 is rated for fewer write cycles than the 520 and comes with a 3 year warranty instead of the 5 year warranty for the 520.

From previous threads and looking at some benchmarks there is a significant improvement in frames per second with the 680 compare to the 675.

4. Will give you piece of mind that the system will be cooled at its best (also look to getting a cooling pad to help this ).
5. If using in a very bright room it will cut down the reflection a great deal, the Matte AUO needs to be calibrated? to get the best out of it.
6. With a normal wireless card it is pretty much done for you, with the 1102 is has software which allows you to priorities what programmes/games get the most bandwidth. ( I have both the WiFi 1102 and 2100 network card ). I would go with what ever you feel will get you the best bang for bucks, as my Vertex III will be sitting in place of my Desktop l will be using the ethernet connection, so went for the GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® ADVANCED-N 6235 (300Mbps) + BLUETOOTH option, just in case the ethernet goes down.

Surely if I run one game at a time each game will get the wireless priority?

Also how would I calibrate the AUO Screen?

you should be able to, you can either use Fn+F1 to toggle it on and off (i assume this feature is on the Vortex, im using an Optimus) or disable it via the device manager :)

I assume you use a piece of kit like a Color Munki or a spyder.

So I cannot calibrate in software - do I need to calibrate or does it work out of the box as it should?

Bigfoot’s Killer-N 1102 Wireless Networking vs. the World.

This gives a break down of what the 1102 can do and how it performed against other WiFi models, there is so much more about the 1102 other than just gaming.

It will work right out of the box.

you only need to calibrate it if you want the colour
gamut to be very accurate for photography work.

it wont be far off anyway
