Vortex III Elite Battery Problem

Hello, I have this kind of big problem with my 3 months old Vortex III Elite.
Sometimes, it doesn't recognize the battery :| It just won't start unless it's plugged in, although the battery is fully charged. What could it be and what can/should I do?

Also, sometimes when I'm using it on battery, it just suddenly stops because again, it fails to "see" the battery for a few seconds :(

Sounds like lose connections for the battery.

Inside the battery is a microprocessor that sends information back to the computer to tell it how much power is left. If the battery was failing 100% of the time it would be a battery failure, where it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't indicates a bad connection.

For a quick test, make sure the laptop is off then remove the battery then replace it, see how long the problems persist.

You could always call PCS and tell them of the problem, they might be able to give you a replacement battery. But if that fails the same, it could be the connections on the laptop side.

Just out of curiosity, do you take the battery out a lot?

No, I don't take it out a lot. It only happened like 3-4 times until now.. But this is mostly because I keep my laptop plugged almost all the time. Hasn't happened for the last week or so.. I will try to run on battery more and see if it occurs again, I will call PCS Support. Thank you

The same has happened to me, but only once. I powered down, removed it and then replaced and haven't seen the problem again.

Seems odd that it has happened to 2 of the same model though.....

Yep..getting worse. Now, sometimes even when I'm pressing with my palm on random chassis surfaces, the battery led goes off. Or when I'm moving with the laptop on my lap... very annoying, especially if it's not plugged in and it powers off due to not recognizing the battery is inside. As soon as I'm back in UK I will contact PCS.. :(

Hmm, sorry to add to the negative parade but I had a random cut out while on battery but thought that was down to drunkenly picking it up one handed...

Maybe PCS can shed some light on if it is connections within the batt unit. I'm going to do some, erm, 'wiggle' tests, see if it might be the chasis flex that caused mine to cut out the other day.

Hope you get some info and get it sorted for you bud

I also have had the same issue, although it hasn't happened for a while, I have noticed it at least 5 or 6 times.....seems a few people have this issue.

This probably happens if you fail to lock the battery in manually after properly placing it into the laptop, worthwhile a check.

One side side is spring loaded but the other requires you manually lock it in place, if you don't then you probably will be loosing connectivity intermittently.

Hope it helps
