Vortex II Microphone issue

Hi, Just got the Vortex II 17 a few days back but something i'm having a bit of trouble with and was hoping someone may be able to help.

When i use a headset the game sound is perfectly fine but when speaking I'm getting reports that people can hardly hear me. I done a few sound recordings with windows builtin Sound recorder and its very faint even with Microphone boosted right up to +30

I know this has a built in mic as i can see the hole for it just above the trackpad and when i tap keys i can hear them very clearly so i've muted the playback in case this was interferring but no joy.

I've messed about with all sorts of setting in the Sound Manager but just cannot improve the quality of the mic (this headset works fine on another machine)

Just wondered if anyone has encountered the same issues and what they may have done to find a resolution.

Cheers.

Hi Devize,

No built in mic is going to give you ANY sort of decent quality sound, best bet if this is for gaming get a headset with a decent Mic, I just bought a Razer Piranha, not high end or anything but it's on Zavvi.com for £37.95 (enter discount code ZAVV410 for £4 discount if you spend £40 or more) which has a decent mic and decent sound at (what I think) is a reasonable price, hope that helps.

Hi Cavid, Sorry perhaps my description was misleading, I'm not using the built in mic I'm using a headset with a mic.

Last night i managed to improve things by using the noise cancellation function and removing THX software as the sound recordings also had a ton of hiss which made alot of backround noise as well as very quiet. It's still not picking up my voice that well but its certainly an improvement.
