Vortex Alpha, Lightroom, Photoshop

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me asking a question on your thread. I was just about to purchase a PC which one of the sales team had designed when he mentioned this Vortex model. Spec is higher, except for the M2 card and the hard drive. He was quoting the Samsung 970 250Gb and a Pro 4Tb seagate hard drive for £1435. Same processor, ram except at 2400, and a 1060 6Gb card. My two questions, the price I see is £1499 and will the RTX video card be comparable with Photoshop and Lightroom.

I've moved your post to its own topic as the discussion will be very different from the other user's due to your different users.

The Pro HDDs are frankly not worth the large price premium for 99.9% of people.

The 970 Evo is faster than the Intel 760p, and that might help for your uses, though I can't say how much.

Photoshop and Lightroom can be less demanding on the graphics card than gaming, so having a GTX 1060 as opposed to an RTX 2070 isn't necessarily such a big deal. Though photoshop can benefit from a dedicated graphics card above a GTX 1060.

Photoshop does benefit from faster RAM, so you will want 3000MHz RAM.

For Lightroom, a manually configured spec might go something like:

Overclocked CPU: Overclocked Intel® Core™ i7-9700K Eight Core (3.60GHz @ up to 5.0GHz)

So I'd probably just go with the Vortex Alpha as it has a better GPU that might help, and you can always add more storage yourself in the future should you need it.

The price in that guy's post was £1414 because he was ordering without Windows.

The RTX GPU is compatible with photoshop and lightroom. RTX is just marketing to mean it's a GTX card with some extra features principally aimed at gamers.
