Hi there. This is very similar to my proposed spec for video editing (to replace a tired old system). My son, who is in the broadcasting industry, gave it a thumbs up.

Some changes I'd suggest for you.

1. Avoid Piano Black finish - will soon show the dust and finger prints.

2. Best to have two hard drives, so the captured and edited files are separate from the main C: system drive.

3. For future-proofing you might be better of with a Blu-Ray drive.

4. If doing frequent, intensive editing, 8GB of memory would be worth having.

Thanks Snapper48, i've thought about the 8GB memory, and the other harddrive i was hoping to make External. Blue-Ray is a reasonable upgrade for future and I thank you for your input.
GLAD TO HEAR IT'S A THUMBS UP! :)

Also curious -
My son, who is in the broadcasting industry
- Really? I'm desperately hoping to break in to the industry, that's great! Did he find it hard getting his foot in the door?

Hi APotter.

My son started in the time-honoured way of being a runner. That was for a post-production house/ TV studio. Getting that first break is not easy but persistence - and/ or knowing somebody already in the industry will help.

Now, about 15 years later he is Head of Facilities for a major satellite broadcaster. He is clever and a fast learner - essential attributes.

That's great. Thanks for the insite Snapper48.
I'm as persistent and hard-working as they come - so fingers crossed and things should work out. Entry level Runner or P.A. is normally the break :) Thanks again.
