Morning all,

Need a decent Video editing laptop for 4k footage and some After Effects Stuff. Budget is £2200 on the nose. Will be using an external USB C SSD to work off.

Hello,
just some questions before answering you
why a 15" laptop ? (and not a 17")
will it be plugged all the time or will you be on the move ?
there is some improvement to do i think (at least better ram and removing bullguard)

And for now, i think it's the best i can do ^^"

Sorry for the delay. I would prefer 17 actually. I'd specced this 15 based on stock availability . Need to purchase this week

I will be on the move at least twice a week, the rest of the time it will be at a desk.

So, I just took a look at what is available.
And yeah, the recoil 15" is probably the best choice for now ...
That being said, as i'm pretty sure that there will be soon the 12th intel gen laptop available, so do you really need it right now ?

If yes, there is some advice and questions

do you really need 64go of ram ? because 2666 MHz is really slow
my advice would be to take the 32go at 3200Hz, or you buy your laptop with 16go at the lower speed and you buy from another source a better ram ^^"
remove bullguard, it's known to cause problems with windows
take the better thermal paste
take the 1st ssd as the 980pro from samsung (and maybe a better second one)
take both the gold and the dead pixel warranty

Oddly enough I was talking to a colleague that mentioned the 12th gen intel. I take it they are pretty dam good? I could wait at a push. I'll have to have a google and see when they are coming out. If it's too long I'll get the above.

edit : As this laptop support pcie 4th gen ssd, it would be a waste to not take the samsung 980pro

(if you want to get 64go of ram, it should be 189£ more expensive, but as i said in my first, or second post, i'm not sure it would be really beneficial for you ^^)

And as the ram will not be available until the first of april, you may update your order if you want to change it (in one way or another ^^)
