I've been scouting possible builds for some time but havn't settled on anything so open to suggestions / possible builds.

Monitors are - LG 27UD58-B

I am aware lead times for most stuff is around 6 weeks though it's not factor

It would be used for Video production / post production mainly with Premier Pro / After Effects / Photoshop & 4K Gaming (Elite Dangerous / COD / Flight Simulator)

any ideas?

If you're going to drop 6g's on a computer I would strongly recommend getting a Samsung G9 to pair with the monster that's about to built

Im not suggesting this as a spec, just an idea of what your budget can (very easily) get you. Talk to PCS about putting 4 x 16Gb 3600MHz RAM (option for 2x, but no 4x...so would be possible but you would need to arrange directly with them)

Other than that, you can practically pick the highest spec components you can find and it will still be in budget.

He mentioned 4K gaming...is the 5950X suitable?
Im sure I read something about the 3900X being better than the 3950X for gaming, the 5000 series may be different?

Thats the only thing I would question, and I would still enquire with PCS about putting 4 x 16Gb 3600MHz RAM in as a custom order, given the video editing and AfterEffects (you would need to ask someone who knows more about that side of things, 32Gb may be just fine for your uses)

Mine has come out very similarly to @Steveyg. I would definitely upgrade to the Crosshair motherboard when it comes back into stock, as the 5950x really needs the added voltage and cooling from that board. Also added a scratch drive which should be handy during editing.

Monitor wise, the G9 has been mentioned which is an absolute beauty, and would highly recommend it if you have the space for the 49 inch behemoth.
Otherwise, the LG GN950 is a 4k 144hz display that has been highly rated for both productivity and gaming.

Maybe use the other 1.5k on something mental? 6k is alot of money to spend on the system and as you can see, people arent really hitting the magic number. Build a hella solid system or spend the extra money on some better parts that PCS dont offer. Build as highly a spec as you want and then look at other things that would improve the build that you can source yourself, ie coolers, ram, gpu, speakers etc etc.

Thoughts on a threadripper or an i9 processor?

It will also be used for 4K gaming as well as a lot of video editing stuff

I think a 5950x hits the sweet spot between gaming and production.
16 cores is still a lot of cores, and will be ample for 4k editing and rendering. When you head into TR territory single core performance takes a hit which will limit you with gaming.
The 5950x, in my opinion, gets you the best of both worlds.

Look at you all, you’re like kids in a sweet shop having this much money to spec a system for someone 😜

Not at all, I’m just recovering from having three quarters of a litre of blood taken out me so I’m not on my A-game. I’m likely to make a mistake and leave BullGuard in there 😱

What I would say is that OP may want to consider 64GB of RAM. If they’re doing 4K editing, After Effects will munch up memory like nobody’s business.

This true, I have been looking at 128 gb Ram options as well. After Effects does require a chunk of memory if it is to run relatively smoothly

RAM might be one of the things to source seperately then?
You would have to put 4Gb basic RAM in, just because PCS have to be able to test and also dont do "partial" builds, but you should be able to find RAM pretty easily, 2 x 32Gb sticks or 4x32Gb, Corsair vengence LPX CL18 3600MHz (or 3200MHz) would be what I suggest.

Shouldn’t a serious video editor be looking at Threadrippers and beef up the ram?

How would threadrippers fare in games, I don’t know. I can’t do that bad.
