Upgrading GPU For My 3 Year Old PC

Hello, my sibling wants my current 2070 Super and is offering to buy me a new GPU in the next month or two, just wondering if I should get a 3070 or a chip in a bit and get a 4070.

I currently use my PC for gaming; mainly Baldur's Gate 3, Overwatch 2, Assassin's Creed, Elder Ring, FFXIV and other RPG/Story Heavy games. I'd like to try Cyberpunk 2077 at some point, too. I do like to Photoshop and Video Edit from time to time.

I have two monitors; an old Acer 1080p and an 27’’ WQHD (2560x1440) iiyama; I might upgrade the older Acer monitor to a 4k monitor for Christmas. Hopefully I've pinpointed everything well enough.

Thanks in advance!

For the 4070 or the 3070 I'd stick with 1440p, going 4K would require a higher tier of GPU again. Now if you can pick up a 3080 at a reasonable price it would be a good idea to start looking at 4K monitors. I've some seen at some very attractive prices

Personally I'd probably aim at a 3070 or even a 3070Ti over the 4070 to be honest. The prices on the 4xxx series cards has just been stupid so they are difficult to recommend, ideally I would have recommend an AMD card which are offering loads of power for great value but on the photoshop and video editing side of things you're still much better off with an Nvidia card at the minute

Oh, I never thought about a 3070Ti! I did check Amazon quickly and there was an Asus TUF going for £525.36 and a 4070 MSI going for £529.98 (I don't know about the name brand tbf), so they're pretty much the same price point, would you still recommend going with the 3070Ti?

Thanks for the speedy response!

At that price I would go with a 4070 to be honest, more VRAM it is faster plus it's smaller so less issues with case configuration not to mention things like DLSS3.0

Why not look at Ultra wide if you are thinking of upgrading monitors, the Gigabyte in my signature is great
