Hi this is my 3 yr old rig....Case
FRACTAL DEFINE R3 - BLACK PEARL CASE
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-3770K (3.5GHz)
Motherboard ASUS® P8Z77-V
Memory (RAM) 16GB KINGSTON HYPERX GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 2133MHz X.M.P(4 x 4GB KIT)
Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GTX 670 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready
2nd Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GTX 670 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

1st Hard Disk 240GB INTEL® 330 SERIES SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 500MB/sR | 450MB/sW)
2nd Hard Disk 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)

It runs well, if not a little loud and can get a bit hot when playing demanding games(dragon age inquisition really gets it cooking). It is used for gaming and work. My question is what upgrades would be recommended to keep this up to date with graphics performance, iwas looking at the 980ti. Also is there anything i can do to quiet it down a bit.

Do PCSpecialist service PCs ie new thermal paste etc?

Any help appreciated.

are you overclocking the cpu? which components are getting hot? I am sure PCS can provide repasting of the cpu but it would be cheaper and quicker to do it yourself

What CPU Cooler have you currently got? Can you post your full specs?

If you want, you can specify the upgrades you want and send your PC in for PCS to do. If you upgraded your current cooler, that would involve a repasting anyway, but even if not, I'm sure if you called after ordering and asked them to include a repaste, they'd be happy to do it.

It has this cooling unit.
Processor Cooling COOLIT ECO II A.L.C ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER.

I'm not overclocking it at the moment, will do that when I need to eek some extra life out of it in future. I think it's the gpu's that generate the heat and make the noise when the fans go into turbo mode.

Am thinking I'll just dive in and get the 980ti. Would my 670's be redundant or could they still do a job in the same rig?

you can mix the gtx 670 with the gtx 980 ti. If you want the system to run less hot and less noisy a single gpu is a good choice. I believe several forum users experienced problems with the coolit cpu cooler (including myself), you could also consider replacing it.
