update BIOS on GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE V1 from preinstalled version F52D

As i said on the thread, i cannot update my BIOS up to version F53.

Currenrtly i'm on windows 11 insider program and everything works fine on my end, also i have an AMD RX5700XT running on latest drivers version 21.9 which has a very good inprove called "SAM - Smart Access Memory".

In order to get the SAM enable the only thing left on my side is to run a BIOS update to allow “Above 4G Decoding” which is already on my system and the new feature “Re-Size BAR Support” to set either enable/auto but this is not present and the moment on version f52d and there is no way to update my motherboard (GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE v1).

Sorry, for any BIOS updates you need to contact PCS otherwise you invalidate your warranty.

One thing i would like to know is why the BIOS version/driver was not installed using the official drives from GIGABYTE, loking at program CPU-Z it's very clear for me the driver was loaded from American Megatrends Inc. (AMI for short).

I suspect it's because with any drivers it may kill Windows if something goes horribly wrong but a Windows reinstall will sort it all out, whereas if a BIOS update goes wrong or if its the wrong one it can brick the machine and be a lot lot lot more effort to fix (if it can be)

That's pointing me out to my first clue, they capped the option to flash our BIOS.

I have to say that I think it's unwise in the extreme to be considering updating a BIOS in order to support some feature in what is at the moment only a Beta version. Once Windows 11 is officially released and stable, then a BIOS update to turn on some feature that you need might be considered.

Windows version is not part of the issue here. Regardless whatever Windows version you are on, they prevent bios updates by flashing it.

This is just not correct, there's no locks or anything put in place, you just void your warranty if you flash without their agreement.

But as you should know that PCSpecialist's BOARD are OEM (aka prebuilt system), not the generic one, PCSpecialist should provide the files and guiadance if custormers need a BIOS update.

Hi guys, let me apply some clarity to this.

A while ago Gigabyte started publishing the BIOS we use with the PCS logo, these are loaded with an OEMID for us which appears to prevent flashing of normal Gigabyte BIOS applied from the gigabyte website, I guess this is some sort of failsafe to make sure people are checking with us. As a geeky enthusiast myself this would frustrate me if I was customer-side.

However, it's not the end of the world, there are two ways we can approach it:

1. Customers come to us for the BIOS< we will happily give out the latest PCS version of the BIOS, with the usual warnings and terms applied

2. You can download the BIOS from the Gigabyte website, get yourself a USB pen drive, use Rufus (http://rufus.ie/) and tell it to make an MSDOS (FreeDOS) bootable drive. Once this is made please extract ALL files from the Gigabyte BIOS folder (it will ask you to overwrite autoexec, please allow this). Then reboot and boot from the pen drive, it will automatically overwrite the BIOS, it will still give you the 'OEMID MISMATCH ERROR' but will then go straight past it and update the BIOS.

If you go for option number 2 you will be able to flash any BIOS after this, if you flash back to a PCS BIOS later you would need to do option 2 again.
