Unable to select Nvidia GPU graphics

Hi,

I have a brand-new Optimus IV laptop with a GeForce GTX660M graphics card. I'd like the system to use this card rather than the 'Integrated graphics' system. The sticky-post in here tells me how to use the Nvidia control panel to select the Nvidia. Trouble is that the only item in the 'Preferred graphics processor:' pull-down list is 'Integrated graphics'; I was expecting to see Nvidia listed.

What am I missing? Various other posts I've seen on other sites suggest a driver incompatibility. How can I fix this?

FYI I've got the latest 314.07 Nvidia driver.

Any help most welcome...

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi,
Ok, so another post elsewhere solves this for me - I'll note it here in case others have the same issue.

Under the power icon in the system tray there are two Power Plans: Balanced and UMA. It appears as though UMA selects internal graphics only, whereas Balanced allows the machine to decide. I needed to restart the machine to allow the Nvidia control panel to recognise my new 'Balanced' setting, but now all appears well.

Ta,
Mark
