Unable to access forums via mobile

Here's a weird one.

My mobile on EE won't connect to the forums on mobile data.

It's absolutely fine from the same handset and browser if the phone's connected to WiFi.

When you try to go to it on the mobile network it gives the PCS page but displays an "Oops something went wrong" message.

I use EE on my phone and tablet and don't have any issues using the forum. You could try resetting network settings.

Same browser...same phone...ONLY difference is WiFi or 4G.

Nor does the physical location matter - get the same result at my old mans so not sure how a browser cache clear would help in this case or the network settings. I can turn WiFi off whilst browsing the forum and it'll error. Turn WiFi back on and it's back.

Also - it literally is the only site so far I've seen it on. It's been happening some time now, too.

I get similar issues when connecting on my home wifi. Phone works fine when on 4G and I've not noticed other websites behaving oddly. Not had any time to really try to diagnose or fix the issue yet unfortunately.

It started to work fine again for a while (few weeks) just recently then stopped again. Don't think I've changed any settings at home. I get the same issue when trying to get on from any device connected to my home network (PCs, tablets, phones etc.).

Not that this is helpful to the OP.

Tony1044, I think in both of our cases it would be worth attempting a cache clear out and resetting our network settings (although in your case I think they are prescribed by EE so not sure how you'd do that). I'll try that this evening and let you guys know how I get on.

I've just had a certificate error when accessing the fora via Comodo Dragon (and https). Strangely I don't get the error with SW Iron using exactly the same extensions and config lists. Edge and IE were fine too, though they are vanilla (ie. they don't have all my extensions).

My feeling is that it's a Dragon issue but I mention it because it's the first time I've had a certificate error from PCS and because it might be linked to Tony1044's issue?

I get the same issue as the OP. On my mobile (Virgin, Windows Phone) it comes up with the 'ooops' message every time and has for the last few weeks now, on my desktop it is fine.

As an aside, shouldn't the mobile page have the forums a little bit more easy to access than it does? I have to go to the 'contact us' part right at the bottom of the screen.

Here's an interesting thing - turned my mobile hotspot on and connected my laptop. Couldn't access the forums so it's definitely something related to trying to connect via (my) EE

Always had a problem connecting to the forum since I left Virgin and started with BT broadband (Not by choice ~ moved house and Virgin not available ).
I can connect direct to the front page but always get a 404 if I attempt to access forum.

Thankfully Chrome Browsec solves the problem with a connection via proxy.

That's definitely BT's useless dns servers, if you've got a decent router, switch to googles dns, much more reliable and quicker.

I quite agree. I have my DNS set to forward to Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

BT used to use a transparent proxy to force DNS to their own whatever you used but I believe they stopped this awful practice a few years ago.

Ditto, I have google's DNS and they're so much more reliable. BT's go down very very frequently causing 404's all over the place.
