Hello hello hello :)

Basically, I'm deciding i want to waste my money on a laptop, as money really does burn a hole in my pocket!

Decided to go with an Ultrabook or whatever it's called, as i want something slim and portable to lug around to and from work. The machine hasn't got to be able to run games or anything that intensive, just general word documents and speadsheets. Emailing and the internet. So basically, nothing hard at all!

I want to keep it down to the lowest cost as possible if i can. I've come up with this so far:

I'm debating whether or not to up the CPU to an i3. I'm not clued up on Laptop CPU's, unlike Desktop ones so im not sure how good the one i've selected is at the moment. (don't want it bottlenecking the SSD!)

I want to keep it as low as possible really. It's not got to be super quick, as it's only for light use.

I was debating whether or not to up it to the i3 and then drop to a Black HDD. The only thing that has to be super quick is my desktop at home ;)!

Only having 128GB of space on the SSD, more likely about 90GB after windows installs all it's crap will be fine. All my work stuff is on the External HDD at work.

Your second spec looks better,but if speed isn't an issue,personally I wouldn't bother with the SSD and drop to the black for the sake of having more space,but you say you wont need it.

Yeah, i don't really need the room. Like i said, all the work stuff is on an external HDD. Also, if i manage to fill up the SSD, i could always take it out, put it in my Desktop as thats starting to run low on room (only 60GB SSD, 15GB left) and then buy a bigger SSD later on. It's an option.


Thinking i'll go for spec #2 :D

Yup, that's defo a much better spec in the end there! As a thought, what if you bought a bigger SSD for your home pc then put the 60GB one into your ultrabook? Also, if you want speed and to save costs....linux?

It's a thought, but i cba to mess around inside my desktop. It takes too long to open it all up, and it's heavy as anything haha!
