Turning on wireless connection

Just got my Vortex II . Can I ask ref the wireless. Took me sometime to realise you need to press function key and F12 to turn wireless on but do I need to do this every time I turn the lap top on?

Not normally, once it's turned on it's on, well at least mine is. I turn the pad off but when I reboot it's back on again.
