As did you :)

It's easy to imagine how frustrating it would be to have issues with a gift on Christmas day, being able to even remotely alleviate that with a little time away isn't too much to ask. Especially with the year as it's been so far :)
Indeed, and I think it speaks volumes about what a fantastic little community we have here that people are willing to offer their assistance and experience on Christmas Day.

I think this needs to be said...

@Scott, @SpyderTracks, @ubuysa, @barlew, @RogWal, @scarpa1, @AlaMid, @RobSas, @Martinr36, @andjef796

You all did something awesome today. You took time out of your day on the 25th of December to lend a hand to someone having issues with their new computer... You saved Christmas!

Fine work, gentlemen 👍
Thanks @AgentCooper, Much appreciated. I've had help with my build from you guys, just like to give back where I can. I'm a big believer in "teach a person to fish rather than giving them one fish for the day".

It's something we do every year. :)

I was massively frustrated by the number of people who bought a PC as a present (mostly from Currys/PCWorld it seemed) and didn't have the foresight to check that it was working when they got it home! Many seemed to be blaming PCS for ruining their Christmas, when in fact their Christmas was ruined because they didn't have the good sense to check it was working when they took delivery and before they gave it as a present.

I would never buy any complex kit (especially electronic kit) as a present and not check that it was working ok before I put it under the tree. What is wrong with people nowadays?? 😖

My reasons was because the other guys you mentioned have all helped me and I just thought if I could help on one or two queries on Christmas Day it not only helps the person with the problem but gives five minutes back to the mods and other helpers for their day.

Thanks all.

Yep you all did a good bit of work yesterday and saved some Christmas’s.

I echo @ubuysa in that it never ceases to amaze me that parents (invariably) fail to plan for Christmas Day and present time, whether it’s a PC, a console, even a bike (I have had to sort a few bikes on Christmas Day lol).

Cheers for that :)

To be honest, I am spending Christmas in a Tier4 lockdown area, so can't really socialise with friends. My mum is in Wales, which has its own lockdown restrictions, but anyway, as I live in an area where the new variant of Covid is utterly rampant, I wouldn't have travelled back to see her even if there was no travel restrictions (she in her mid-70s).

Spent yesterday afternoon in the local park, sitting on a park bench replying to forum messages, whilst watching a gorgeous sunset.

Thanks! Although for each decent pic. I had to take and delete at least 20 bad ones.

And I bet you have the odd day when you take 100 pictures and don’t even get one you are happy with out of that.

Are you a professional or just amateur? I was watching a pro doing a football match the other day. Couldn’t believe how he was editing pics on his laptop really quickly whilst still taking pictures of the action going on just to get the pictures out there quickly.

I'm strictly amateur - pics were from my camera phone. Dabbled over the years, but I would imagine that life as a photographer is very competitive.
