Transfering to a portable harddrive

Hello

This is probably a simple question to answer. I have recently purchased a portable hard drive and I want to transfer Steam and the games I have for it onto it which are currently installed on the harddrive in my PC . Would it be a simple cut and paste onto the portable hard drive to use them or would I have to uninstall from my hard drive and then reinstall everything onto the Portable one? The portable hard drive would stay attached to my PC the whole time from now on so I can always get to everything, main reason I bought it was am running low on space on both hard drives in PC.

I believe you'd have to reinstall them to the external drive.

Would it not be slightly easier to move the other stuff to the portable HDD?
