Throttlestop V9.4. FIVR Control Options Greyed out. Ionico 17. Intel i7 11800H CPU.

Hey folks.
My laptop spec is in the sig block. I have studied Macco's video about 'under-volting' and have downloaded Throttlestop V9.4.
As the title suggest, the FIVR controls in the centre column are greyed out.
I read on Google that this is a BIOS issue and that it is locked in the BIOS.
My BIOS version is: N.1.07A05
I cannot see an option to change so am somewhat stumped as to how to make the laptop 'under-voltable'....

Has anyone had similar issues and is there a solution?

Like you said it sounds like the ability to under-volt has been disabled. You would have to contact PCS and discuss it with them. They may be able to supply you with a new BIOS to provide that functionality.

So the Tech Support guy I spoke with could not help, saying that any under-volting would void the warranty.

He said that a BIOS update would not help and that the BIOS was locked for a reason.

Personally, I am not convinced he actually gripped what I was asking but I am back to the drawing board.

I must say that is the first time I have ever heard of under-volting voiding the warranty. It is a pretty standard part of keeping modern laptops cool. I would suggest maybe putting it in writing to them via email?

*Edit* But also bare in mind there may well be a reason for why under-volting is disabled on your laptop.

I read somewhere on the Internet that Intel have purposely locked 10th/11th Gen CPUs from under-volting to protect against 'Plundervolt'. This may explain why I am having no luck. Not sure how I would unlock that on a i7 11800H if I wanted to?

I am sure others have managed to under-volt their 10th/11th Gen CPUs though..... must keep digging....

That would involve a BIOS hack which would void your warranty.

I know this is an old thread, but anyway. My Ionico 17 with the same CPU and BIOS version allows undervolting via Throttlestop. When I contacted PCS regarding a newer BIOS some time ago, they said I had the most up to date one.
