Thinking of the unthinkable a PC

I'm thinking of buying a pc, the first in 25years so I have absolutely no idea about specking one out. I've been using PC Specialist Laptops However I will be using this for light gaming COD, Doom Half Life Sniper ghost warrior. at 2160 @ 60hzt. My main use is for Lightroom and Davinci resolve, I don't want to spend much more than 2.5K. I'm 65 years old so the gaming is only a bit of fun I don't do online gaming. The Lightroom and DaVinci is more important to me. The videos I'll be rendering are only short 5 mind max.

Just to confirm I'm like Manuel "I Know Nothing" case, cooler, mother board, fans power, I haven't a clue. but I think that a processor and graphics card of the value will do what i require.

You'll get a lot more from a PC, and they last a lot longer than a laptop as well with minor upgrades down the road (GPU being the most painful).

We'd build with an expected 8 - 10 year lifecycle with 1 or 2 GPU updates during that time, but with the latest AMD platform, they've confirmed support to at least 2027, but if it's anything like AM4, that may continue past that time as well, so IF you wanted more CPU grunt in the future, you'd likely have the option to upgrade the CPU to further lengthen the lifetime.

Also, cases have really started optimising future proofing in a way we've not really seen at more the mid range arena, usually things like modular IO panels (that could be upgraded if new USB sockets or other ports come out) were kept to pretty high end cases running over say £200 mark.

So aside from GPU insanity, it's actually a really good time to buy a PC, especially getting in before trump tariffs take effect

What's your maximum budget for the purchase? Your efforts aren't far off, but with a ceiling we can best optimise the system as a whole

Good to talk to you again I don't want to spend more than 2.5k. The lightrooom tasks are far more important than the gaming. The other thing that is in my mind is upgrading in a few years (5) if possible so i'm thinking motherboard it's not a deal breaker.

The most important thing with this build is balance, cpu, gpu, power, and cooling.
