Hi, I was re-applying the thermal paste on my GPU after changing cooler and I think a bit spilled over onto the PCB.
Will this have any negative effects on the operation of the card?
I used the business card method of applying the paste.
Which paste was it?
If the paste was conductive (silver based for example) then it could short something out.
I would always suggest the pea method of applying paste. The business card method can create air bubbles and just gets messy. No need to spread the paste at all as it will do this when the weight of the cooler is put on it. It will also expand after it heats up which is another reason to keep it away from the sides of the CPU, GPU etc.
