Thermal paste - Octane VI

Hi,

Do someone know why we can't have anymore the cooler master thermal paste with the Octane VI 17,3 ?

I just checked the French site and I can definitely see the option there too.

I'm using Iron browser 74.0.3850.0 (Chromium based).

On MS Edge I can't see it, however.

What browser + version are you on?

There seems to be a few styling issues. Most of the time I cannot select a second M2 drive.

I have the same issue with Internet Explorer.

I am using Google Chrome Version 75.0.3770.90 (Build officiel) (64 bits). It is the lastest version.

It is strange because on another model i can choose it...

PCspecialist replied to me that the standard thermal paste is better than the cooler master. So they don't propose it anymore.

I think the person who sent you that was.. wrong :/

I know they don't offer the paste with the Vyper chassis, and PCS have said that this is because the design of the chassis makes repasting trickier, and because the standard paste and standard cooling on the Vyper are so good that there's no need to offer better paste.

But on the Octane, I've not heard that. And they clearly do offer the better paste because I could buy it if I wanted to in the configurator!

.. unless they have started just using Thermal Grizzly on all Octanes as standard or something.. but why sell the CM paste still if so...

I asked what is the standard thermal paste and they replied "the one proposed by Clevo" :/
Btw if the standard thermal paste is bad i'll replace it by Thermal Grizzly kryonaut...

I've tried to raise this with PCS staff members - both the problems with the configurators for some people not showing the paste options, and the apparently incorrect advice you've received.

I asked again to the support and i had the same answer.
Apparently the basic paste is really better

Yes, it seems they've stopped selling the CM paste with the Octane altogether.

The other day when you posted about this I could still select the CM paste. I raised this with one of the admins. And now the CM paste is definitely gone as an option for the Octane.

Maybe Clevo have started using better stuff, or maybe PCS just repaste all Octanes anyway themselves.

At least that solves the issue

Btw i'll purchase it the next week with an i7 8700.
I'll do a review with that stock paste
